" Awakening " - Finalist in EMERGING FOCUS - PHOTO LA Competition

I couldn't believe the news, when Bonny Diadhiou, of Icon LA's Fine art department called me last Friday.   She called me personally to share the news that I had been selected as one of the finalists for the Emerging Focus Exhibition for PHOTO LA.  I almost dropped the phone and squealed like a child on Christmas morning. I'm one of the top 20 photographers selected for this very prestigious fine art exhibition for new and emerging talent to watch in the contemporary fine art LA scene.   

This was for me a milestone, I have to say. I love creating my fine-art work and have had a few exhibitions with great sales and results, even a few articles written up by art critics about my Barbie Series's " Great Expectations 2012 " and " What Lies Beneath 2012 ".  But now to have the recognition as an emerging fine art talent and be included as one of the finalists for this competition for Photo LA... this is HUGE for me.  For an artist to have their work begin to be seen and recognized, collected and taken seriously is monumental and fills my heart with gratitude for all the people who have believed in my work and the life experiences and that brought me to this point.
